ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The outpouring of support has been tremendous for the two survivors of this week's fatal house fire.
Tasha Cashatt works as a CNA at Alden Park Strathmoor. Today her co-workers hosted a benefit to help raise money.
Cashatt lost her mother, brother, nephew and niece Sunday night when a Christmas tree caught fire at this home on 10th avenue. Strathmoor's administrator tells us ever since her patients and staff heard the news, they've been looking for a way to step in and help.
"This is family. I think everybody here, this is our second home. These residents are our family, just as much as we are theirs, so that's the biggest reason,” said Administrator Jodi Wubbena.
The center has raised more than $800. If you would like to help the survivors of the fire, the Red Cross is currently accepting donations. Trinity Lutheran Church has also set up a fund for the Cashatt Family through Alpine Bank. Monetary donations can be made directly through the bank or at the church to help with funeral and living expenses. The church is also accepting clothing and gift cards for the survivors.
