City Leaders Comb Over Loves Park Budget

LOVES PARK (WIFR) -- City leaders in Loves Park are finalizing the budget and Saturday we got our first look at what it entails.

The 2014-2015 budget is $20 million. Mayor Darryl Lindberg says the city also has $7 million in reserves.

A big part of the budget this year includes some major road projects around the city. Earlier this year voters approved a one percent sales tax. That will pay for the reconstruction of alpine road.

Mayor Lindberg says the city is almost ready to start accepting bids for the first part of that project.

"You know we have a lot of roads that need attention and thanks to the citizens who supported that we're going to be able to do a lot of road work over the next 10 years," Mayor Lindberg said.

The city is also putting about $170,000 toward the Reclaiming First Project.
