Church Volunteers Fix Low-Income Homes in Rockford

By  |

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Teenagers from across the country are in Rockford helping low income families spruce up their homes.

This summer church crews from Minnesota, Ohio and Alabama, as well as, several from Illinois are fixing up homes in the Coronado Haskell Neighborhood, just north of downtown. Most of the volunteers sleep at local churches, bring their own food and sometimes even supply the materials for the repairs.

Rockford Urban Ministries has been inviting volunteer church groups to the Forest City for the past ten years.
