ROCKFORD (WIFR) – A Rockford church is helping people get health insurance through the Affordable Care Act.
According to a new study, 73% of people in Illinois who have applied, have received financial assistance. At a workshop at the Unitarian Universalist Church, insurance navigators are offering guidance to enroll in a new plan. Coverage would start March 1st.
"Well it's the law now and we're just happy to be able to offer this site and have people come and be able to answer questions or have their questions answered. There are trained counselors here. They've been great with information and being able to help people work through the process,” said David Kraemer with Unitarian Universalist Church.
The church will offer assistance with signing up every Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. through the end of March.
