FREEPORT (WIFR) – In Freeport, members of a local church cooperative think they have found a more effective way to help homeless veterans, but they'll need our help.
They're calling a property in downtown Freeport a "hero house".
It has six units, and will give vets the support they need to get back on their feet. A government grant and a gift from Episcopal charities and community services will make up most of the money they'll need to fund the home over the next three years, but they are still short a few thousand dollars. All proceeds from Grace Episcopal Church's 9th annual Lobsterpalooza will be donated to the cause.
Live and cooked 1 ½ pound lobsters harvested from off-shore Maine are available by pre-order to the public for purchase at $20. Lobsterpalooza will take place on Saturday, October 12th. For more information to order lobsters, call the Church Office mornings at 815-232-4422.
