BELVIDERE (WIFR) -- Chrysler has reported its first annual net income since 1997 and that turnaround is bringing some good news for Belvidere.

The automaker earned close to two-hundred million dollars last year reversing a more than six hundred million dollar loss in 2010. To celebrate the company's new found success, Chrysler's CEO Sergio Marchionne will be in Belivdere tomorrow. He’s expected to announce the return of a third shift and more than a thousand new jobs.

We'll have extended team coverage of tomorrow's big announcement and what it means for our local economy.

The job fair was advertised in the Register Star last week, so keep an eye on the paper in case there are more. I believe they are also taking applications at www.chryslercareers.com. That being said, I invite Carl to apply as well. Come work a few dozen ten hour shifts in Mid-July. Bet you can't.

so these folks get a bonus, collect unemployment PLUS subpay and their company got our tax dollars to bail them out. where's the taxpayer's bonus for keeping their company alive and their jobs intact? The company repaid the debt, sure. But I'm tired of the workers' whines. I was told by a worker that when things get slow, the management has them sit around and wait...on the clock. wish my employer let me SIT around and get paid.
