Chrysler Workers Donate Turkeys and a Car

BELVIDERE (WIFR) -- It will be a healthy and happy Thanksgiving for quite a few needy Stateliners, thanks to a generous donation from the employees of Belvidere's Chrysler plant. Today they donated 1,500 turkeys and all the fixings to the Boone County food pantry. To make sure it all got there safely, employees brought out a one-of-a-kind Dodge Dart police car. As an extra gift to the community, the company will donate the car to the Belvidere Police Department.

"Chief Jan Noble has been a great partner of Chrysler for many, many years. He's advised us on our Dodge Charger police pursuit vehicle, and he thought that this would be a great time to have the city of Belvidere Police Department have a Dodge Dart made here in Belvidere,” said Peter Grady, Vice President of Network Development and Fleet at Chrysler Group.

The police department will use the car in parades and other ceremonial events.
