ROCKFORD (WIFR) – For nearly 50 years, the Rockford Rescue Mission has shared a festive Christmas meal for the homeless a little early.
The meal included holiday traditions like ham and sweet potatoes. Attendees also received some early presents as well. Toys for the kids and socks, hats, and gloves for the adults.
"This gives them the opportunity to have that family feel. Even though it's big, it's a lot of us, it's chaotic, it's just like my house on Christmas,” said Director of Development for the Rockford Rescue Mission, Chris Eldridge.
About 600 people attended this year’s Christmas Banquet.
