ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A Rockford man is now out of the hospital after slamming his car into a house early this morning.
The Rockford Police Department says 48-year-old Ronald Riggle was drunk when he crashed into this home on Shirley Road, near East State Street. The home owner says he woke to the sound of an explosion just after midnight. That's when Riggle reportedly hit the house.
Roger Niesman, Homeowner, says, "It was just a matter of time before it was going to happen because we have had our trees hit and bush run over but it is a little more unusual"
Riggle is facing DUI charges. He was released from the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
