UPDATE: Car Accident Leaves 60 Rockford Homes Without Power

UPDATE: Power has now been restored to more than 60 Rockford homes after a garbage truck hits a utility pole near Victory and West State Street leaving dozens in the dark. ComEd says the lights were turned back on around 9:00 p.m.

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A car accident leaves dozens of families in the cold tonight.

Police say a garbage truck crashed into a utility pole near Victory and West State streets. The crash knocked out power to 60 homes in the surrounding area. ComEd says power has been restored to about 20 homes. The company expects the remaining 40 to have electricity back on sometime tonight.
