ILLINOIS (WIFR) -- The State of Illinois is closing a big loop hole in its breathalyzer program for first time DUI offenders. It's a story we first told you about in February.
The Blood Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device Program has been upgraded. It now comes with a camera. So every time a first time DUI offender blows into the device to start their car, their picture will be taken. The photo will then go into a database. It could be used to prove the offender had someone blow for them or to prove they weren't the one driving. A failed breathalyzer test could get them into further trouble. All related costs are covered by the DUI offender.
