CALEDONIA (WIFR) – Imagine working in another state and coming back to a home that is destroyed. That the story for a local Caledonia woman and we’ve learned the fire that took her home, rekindled today.
It was a hard today for that local family who neighbors say were always friendly and would often see them walking their dogs. The neighbors say they want to do anything they can to help them rebuild.
Firefighters were sent back to the home today to put out a fire that had rekindled. Neighbors say there were about 10 fire trucks on the scene last night helping to extinguish the flames.
Today, all that’s left standing is a detached garage. The firemen said they had a hard time putting out the fire.
"We walked out there and there was like smoke coming out from the cellar door, and then all the fire trucks and ambulances and everything. The whole block,” said next-door neighbor Amanda Hoopengarner.
Luckily no one was hurt although the couple did lose their two dogs. Firefighters are still not sure what caused the fire, however they do believe it originated in the basement.
