ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Chances are if you’ve got a smart phone, you’re spending too much on your monthly bill. In fact, the Citizen’s Utility Board estimates Illinoisans are wasting $1.4 billion dollars every year.
Their analysis measures the difference between the amount of cellphone data we pay for and the amount we actually use. The average user overpays by about $200 each year. CUB says the biggest problem is that we’re not picking the right cell phone plans and most customers end up “oversubscribing”. The good news is that there are some easy fixes.
“You can consider pre-paid pones. This used to be something just for low-usage users, but now it’s expanding for smart phone users as well as people who use a lot of data. So there’s a package that includes unlimited data, talk, and text, for as little as $50,” said Laura Goldberg with CUB.
