Byron Council Considers Lifting Ban on Video Gaming

BYRON (WIFR) -- Bars in Downtown Byron want to cash in on video gambling after watching other pubs in the Stateline win big with gaming machines.

Right now, video gaming is banned in Byron. Owners of the Cave Inn and The Union want that to change. Both bars have applied for licenses but can't install machines until the city's ban is lifted. Wednesday night Byron aldermen took an initial vote to allow the machines inside the town's nine bars. The owner of the Cave Inn wants the machines so he won't lose business to other communities.
