SPRINGFIELD (WIFR) -- It has been a busy first day back for state legislators in Springfield.
Today a proposal legalizing gay marriage has moved to the Senate floor after passing out of committee by a 9-to-5 vote.
The full house narrowly passed a bill calling for more road funding and transferring money saved from prison closures to child-welfare and mental-health services.
Not a single republican voted for the measure.
