WASHINGTON D.C. (WIFR) -- Congresswoman-Elect Cheri Bustos (IL-17) announced today her office will be distributing tickets for President Obama’s inauguration via a lottery system. His inauguration will take place on Jan. 21, 2013, in Washington, D.C. Tickets are limited, so there is no guarantee that everyone who applies will receive one.
Tickets can be requested at http://www.cheribustos.com/inauguration. There is a limit of four tickets per request, and the deadline to be considered is Dec. 21, 2012. Anyone can enter the lottery, but preference will be given to those from within the Illinois’ 17th Congressional District.
Those chosen in the lottery will be notified toward the end of December and will also receive additional information on how to pick up tickets. Those not receiving tickets will also receive notification. Anyone receiving tickets for the inauguration will be responsible for their own travel and expenses.
If you do not receive a ticket in the lottery, you still may attend the inauguration in the area open to the general public, and there will be other public events to mark the occasion. You can visit http://inaugural.senate.gov to get information about other activities that would potentially be of interest.
