WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) announced a $188,822 grant for domestic violence prevention in Winnebago County. The grants are awarded through the Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women.
“This investment is crucial in helping to protect women and children in Winnebago County,” Congresswoman Cheri Bustos said. “Fighting for the people of Illinois’ 17th Congressional District is my top priority, and that includes making sure our communities are safe places to raise families.”
The grant money is allocated for the Domestic Violence Homicide Reduction (DVHR) Demonstrative Initiative to implement domestic violence homicide reduction and prevention models and evaluate how well they work in different communities. Winnebago County is one of twelve sites that has been chosen to participate as a Phase I DVHR Demonstration site.
