Bruce Rauner Makes Campaign Stop in Rockford

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Bruce Rauner made a stop in Rockford to talk about the unemployment problem in the state.

Rauner visited the former headquarters of A-1 wire tech in the 4500 block of Kishwaukee Street.

The GOP gubernatorial candidate says it’s disappointing now that Illinois has the highest unemployment rate in the Midwest. He says the return of manufacturing jobs to the Rockford area could easily get done.

"We've got the best workers, we've got great people in Illinois, hard-working families. They want higher wages, they want opportunities, they're willing to go to work, if we reduce the regulatory burden and the tax burden,” said Rauner.

The State’s unemployment rate dropped to 8.4% in March.
