ROCKFORD (WIFR) – The blazing weather means it’s time to turn on the air conditioning units, meaning big business for local air and heating companies.
There are fans blowing in every room at Richard Forst’s Rockford home, but he says that’s not enough to keep him cool, so he’s buying a new central air conditioning unit, at the end of summer.
“Might as well do it now instead of waiting for next you or you know, when it starts getting warm, you now, get it finished,” said Forst.
Business is heating up for local cooling companies. Owners say they’ve received double the service calls this week alone.
“Just this week alone we have had 30-50 calls.”
Greg Lee of Pearson’s says people want to fix their air conditioners now and worry about the season change later.
“Even though it’s the end of the season, people still want to know what are my options, what can I do,” Pearson said.
Forst says he’d rather pay for the repairs than sweat another day.
Air conditioners aren’t the only thing people are worried about. Many companies encourage you to make sure your furnace is working properly before the cold weather comes.
