BOONE COUNTY (WIFR) -- The Winnebago County Bomb Squad is called to the Belvidere Police Department Wednesday night, after officers say World War II ammunition was brought into the building.
Sheriff Dick Meyers say it was all a precaution. Meyers says a woman found the "large shell" while cleaning out her uncle's closest. We're told she turned the ammunition into the PSB for safety reasons. The bomb squad will now take the ammunition to a quarry to destroy it.
