BELOIT (WIFR) -- Police say the body found in the Rock River over the weekend has been identified. We’re told it belonged to a homeless man who had been reported missing in December.
25-year-old Ryhene Thomas was last seen in Janesville but his body washed up in the town of Beloit on Sunday. We’re told no foul play is suspected and his body has likely been in the river this whole time.
UPDATE: BELOIT (WIFR) -- Police have identified the body of a man found in the Rock River over the weekend, but won't release his name until family members have been notified. His body washed up just before six o'clock last night in the town of Beloit.
We're told officers are still investigating.
BELOIT (WIFR) -- On Sunday April 21, 2013 just before 6:00 p.m., Town of Beloit officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Pow Wow Trail in the Town of Beloit.
A citizen walking along the river bank had discovered a body in the river and reported it. The body was face up in the river and was approximately 5 feet from the west bank of the Rock River. Divers from the Rock County Sheriff's Department assisted in the recovery.
The subject has not yet been positively identified, nor has the cause of death been determined. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
