Boat Show Attracts Hundreds

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- If you're in the market to buy a boat you're not alone. Industry experts say sales are starting to make a comeback.

If we want to ride the waves there are a lot of boats and watercraft we can check out this weekend at the 43rd annual Rockford Boat, Vacation, and Fishing Show.

There are also classes for fishermen and information for planning that perfect getaway.

Whether we decide to head to a tropical destination or just go boating here on the Rock River organizers say industry sales are almost back to pre-recession levels, and they say now is the time to buy.

"This is the best time of year. A lot of people don't realize that to buy boats is the show season because the manufacturers actually give bigger discounts and rebates that most people don't know about. So, all of the vendors can give out a bigger discount to people coming into the show," show promoter Andrew Rotolo, said.

The boat show is at the Indoor Sports Center. It runs from 11am to 5pm on Sunday. Admission is $7. Kids under 12 get in free.
