ROCKFORD (WIFR) – The Catholic church in Rockford is celebrating its own milestone. It’s been one year since Bishop Malloy was installed at the diocese. Today we asked him what has surprised him most.
"Going from parish to parish, you kind of wonder as an incoming bishop what is it you're going to find. And to find the consistency of enthusiasm, the consistency of desire, and the consistency of people coming up and saying 'Bishop, we're with you,” Malloy said.
Bishop Malloy admits that he wasn’t very familiar with the area before he took over. He says he’s excited by what he’s seen.
Over the next year, he says he’s going to work with the nearly half-a-million Catholics in the Stateline to help make “Aid for the Needy” a priority.
