ROCKFORD (WIFR) – A group of entrepreneurs is hoping a T-shirt will improve thousands of lives here in Rockford and across the world.
For most of us, when asked, we might say the best day of our life was our wedding or our children’s births but what if you could make every day the best day of your life?
Rockford native Mark Boreen says we can. We caught up with him over Skype. Boreen currently lives in San Diego where he met the co-founders of Best Day of My Life.
“We’re a bunch of fun-loving, positive guys that when asked ‘how are you doing?,’ it was never fine or we’re okay it was always ‘hey it’s the best day of my life today,’” said Boreen.
That’s when they decided to turn Best Day of My Life into an apparel company and movement.
“It’s wearing these shirts, Best Day of My Life, and talking about that concept and mentality that can really put a spin on the regular mundane things of a day and it can make it exciting, it can make it fun and it helps to inspire people to have positivity in their lives.”
The group has started an online campaign to get their business going. Over the last ten days, they’ve raised nearly $3,000. Their goal is $10,000.
For every shirt that is purchased on the website, the company will donate one dollar towards Kiva, an organization that helps people in third world countries start small businesses by giving out loans.
“There’s no support in a lot of these countries and these people need sometimes $100 or $200 to get their business going and they just don’t have that.”
Boreen has 20 days left to help those businesses and reach his own goal and to help us have the “best day”.
To contribute, just go to bestdayofmylife.com, where they have T-shirts, hoodies, bracelets, and stickers in exchange for donations. If they don’t reach their $10,000 goal by Christmas, we won’t be charged, but that means we won’t get our products either. The campaign is to help them expand their product line and get into retail stores.
