Belvidere Drug Bust

BELVIDERE (BPD) -- The Belvidere Police Department Narcotic Unit arrested a Rockford man on multiple drug charges on Friday.

Thirty-five-year-old Charles Langford was charged with two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance (heroin – class x felony) within 1000 feet of a church. Langford was released from the boone county jail on a $75,000.00 bond.

On Friday afternoon, Belvidere Police Detectives, Patrol Officers and K9 Unit took Langford into custody in the 1300 block of North State Street, Belvidere.

The arrest of Langford concluded a one month investigation by the Belvidere police narcotics unit. Belvidere police seized heroin, drug packaging material, united states currency and a vehicle.

A class 'X' felony is punishable by six to 30 years in the department of corrections.

Members of the public are reminded that these are only charges and are not proof of the defendant’s guilt. Every defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the state’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
