Belvidere School District Budget Cut Vote Monday

By  |

Belvidere parents will find out Monday whether their child's school will be shutting down.

Twenty five budget cut options will be voted on at the meeting tomorrow, including the closing of Kishwaukee and Perry Elementary Schools. The board's president said at least one of the schools will likely close before the next school year.

PTO president Holly Houk said she's concerned her daughter's school, Kishwaukee Elementary, will shut down.

"She's one of fifty that would be going to a different school right now," said Houk. "Her best friends will not be at her school anymore. And it's really, it's so hard for them, but, you know, I'm going to do my best as a mom to be there for her, and I'm going to help her through it."

The board meeting starts at 6 p.m. Monday at Belvidere North High School.
