BELVIDERE (WIFR) -- Belvidere Police Chief Jan Noble announces the enforcement results for the Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program, Christmas and New Year's Day campaign.

The Belvidere Police department received funding from the Illinois Department of Transportation to hire-off duty officers from December 17, 2012- January 1, 2013. Officers conducted 39 traffic stops that resulted in 39 tickets or arrests:

9- Uninsured
1- DUI
2- Speeding
11- Seat Belt
1- Suspended/Revoked/Unlicensed
6- Minors possessing/consuming alcohol
1- Child Seat
2- Illegal Transportation/Alcohol
2- Registration
2- Other Moving
1-Equipment
1- Warrant

Belvidere officers will continue with targeted traffic enforcement in the coming months. Please buckle up and drive carefully.
