Belvidere Police Arrest Two on Retail Theft Charges

BELVIDERE (WIFR) -- On Friday, January 25, 2013 the Belvidere Police Department arrested two men in connection to multiple retail thefts.

30-year-old Derrick Fiegel and 29-year-old Kameron Morris of Poplar Grove were each charged with two counts of felony retail theft (class 4 felony). Both men are in the Boone County Jail on a $100,000.00 (10%) bond.

On Wednesday, January 30, 2013, Belvidere police detectives executed a search warrant in the 300 block of Constitution Drive, (Candlewick), Poplar Grove, Illinois. Investigators seized thousands of dollars’ worth of property, including several big screen televisions, computers, tools, miscellaneous electronic devices and a lawn mower. The property is believed to be stolen from area Wal-Mart stores.

Belvidere detectives worked with Wal-Mart loss prevention officers over the past month. Investigators were able to identify and arrest both suspects. In addition to the items recovered at the search warrant, detectives recovered several more big screen televisions and other electronic items when Fiegel and Morris were arrested.

A class 4 felony is punishable by one (1) to three (3) years in the department of corrections.
