Belvidere Police Arrest Suspect on Multiple Drug Charges

BELVIDERE (WIFR) -- On Tuesday, October 30, 2012 the Belvidere Police Department Narcotic Unit arrested a subject on multiple drug charges.

Richard R. Alexander, 30 years old, of Rockford, IL, was charged with two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a senior citizen complex (crack cocaine – Class X felony) and 1 count of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance (crack cocaine – Class 1 felony). Alexander is currently being held in the Boone County Jail on a $300,000.00 (10%) bond.

On Tuesday night, October 30, 2012, Belvidere law enforcement officials took Alexander into custody in the 3000 block of Business Route 20, Belvidere.

The arrest of Alexander concluded a four month investigation by the Belvidere Police Narcotics Unit. Belvidere Police seized crack cocaine, drug packaging material, over $1,000 and a vehicle.

A Class X felony is punishable by 6-30 years in the department of corrections. A Class 1 felony is punishable by 4-15 years in the department of corrections.
