Belvidere Police Arrest Rockford Man on Drug Charges

BELVIDERE (WIFR) -- On Thursday, November 8, 2012, the Belvidere Police Department Narcotic Unit arrested a man on multiple drug charges.

37-year-old Derrick Lewers, of Rockford, Illinois was charged with two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance (cocaine) within 1000 feet of a public park (Class X felony). A Class X felony is punishable by 6-30 years in the department of corrections.
Lewers was released from the Boone County Jail after posting a $100,000 bond.

Lewers’ arrest concluded a four month investigation by the Belvidere Police Narcotics Unit; additional charges and/or arrests are possible.
