Belvidere Man Sentenced in Boone County

BOONE COUNTY (WIFR) -- Boone County State’s Attorney Michelle Courier announced that Delfino Perez, 47, of Belvidere was sentenced to 6 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for one count of Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance and one count of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver. Perez was sentenced on February 22, 2013.

On February 21, 2012, Perez sold approximately 1.6 grams of a substance containing cocaine to another at Perez’s home in Belvidere. Following that sale, on March 22, 2012, the Belvidere Police Department executed a search warrant on Perez’s home and seized approximately 20 grams of a substance containing cocaine, a scale, and $6028.20 in cash.

In addition to the felony conviction and prison sentence, Boone County State’s Attorney Michelle Courier sued and received the money located in the home as drug proceeds. The money was awarded to the Belvidere Police Department to further their drug investigation efforts.
