BELVIDERE (WIFR) -- On Wednesday, September 25, 2012, the Belvidere Police Department Narcotic Unit arrested Robert Hatfield on drug charges after a concealed indoor grow operation was discovered.
Hatfield, 35, of Belvidere, Illinois, was charged with one count of unlawful production of cannabis sativa plants (class 3 felony). He remains in custody in the Boone County jail on a $100,000.00 bond.
On September 26, law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 200 block of East 5th street, Belvidere. Police seized cannabis, over 30 cannabis plants, grow lights, drug paraphernalia, drug packaging materials and electronic scales.
The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests and/or charges are possible.
A class 3 felony is punishable by two (2) to five (5) years in the department of corrections.
