Belvidere Man Arrested for Allegedly Delivering Ecstasy

BELVIDERE (WIFR) -- A 21-year-old Belvidere man has been arrested on drug charges.

Gerardo Ponce was arrested after police found ecstasy pills and cash. Ponce was charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a public park (class 1 felony). Police say Ponce's arrest concluded a 2-week investigation by the narcotics unit and that additional arrests or charges are possible.

Ponce remains in the Boone County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

A class 1 felony is punishable by 4-15 years in prison.
