Belvidere Fire Department Respond to House Fire

BELVIDERE (WIFR) -- Just before 2:00 this afternoon, the Belvidere Fire Department responded to a fire in the 1100 block of Grover Street in Belvidere.

Heavy smoke and flames could be seen coming from the garage and rear family room of a bi-level home when the fire department arrived.

The Belvidere Fire Department was on scene for about two hours along with other units who responded to the incident. Belvidere Fire Department received assistance from the Belvidere Police Department, Lifeline Ambulance, Boone County Rural Fire District #2, Boone County EMA, Marengo Fire Department, and Boone County Dispatch.

The residents of the home escaped without injury. The estimated damage of the home is $50,000 and the cause is still under investigation, although it appears to be accidental.
