BELOIT (WIFR) -- On April 7, 2011, at approximately 11:52 p.m., Roderick J. Durr, 54, from Beloit, WI was arrested for his seventh Operating While Intoxicated offense.
Durr was traveling northbound on USH 51 near Sunny Lane in the Town of Rock when he deviated from his lane of traffic, forcing a Rock County Sheriff’s Deputy, who was also northbound, to brake hard in order to avoid a collision.
Durr failed field sobriety tests and had a reported alcohol level of .23, which is almost three times over the legal limit. Durr was also cited for unsafe lane deviation and is currently in jail awaiting an afternoon court appearance.
Although having reduced the number of OWI offenses annually since 2007, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office will deploy additional deputies this weekend in order combat OWI offenses. The increased enforcement is due in part to a $30,000 grant the Sheriff’s Office received from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Bureau of Transportation Safety, as well as our assiduous commitment towards increasing safety on Rock County roadways.
