Beloit Robbery Victim Speaks Out

BELOIT (WIFR) -- Police are still investigating an attempted armed robbery from Monday afternoon.

Beloit Police are in search of a suspect who allegedly walked into Beloit Bicycle Company and threatened owner Greg Wicklund with a hammer.

"As soon as I drew my weapon, he saw that and quickly turned around and ran off so I really didn't have a whole lot of time to think about it," said Wicklund. "I just pulled it out and three seconds later he was gone. It kind of sunk in a few minutes after he left and I called the police."

After running out of Beloit Bicycle Company, the suspect then went to a nearby pizza place where he again threatened the cashier... this time with a knife. The suspect is described as a white male around six feet tall.

It's unclear whether it's because the suspect's vision was limited by his face being covered or that he would have never thought the owner of the bike shop was packing heat, but Wicklund told 23 News he tripped over some bikes and ran straight into the door after seeing the gun.

Police say they have a picture from the pizza place of the assailant but are awaiting one of better quality before continuing the investigation.
