Beloit Police Respond to Two Fires in Two Hours

BELOIT (WIFR) -- It was a busy morning for the Beloit Fire Department after they were called to 2 residential fires within 2 hours.

The first fire call came in just before 3:00 a.m. to a house in the 1800 block of St. Lawrence Avenue in Beloit. When crews arrived, flames were showing from the front of the house. The homeowner was inside the house at the time of the fire and was able to get out safely. Fire officials say the cause of the fire was accidental electrical and estimate there is around $25,000 in damages.

Just as fire crews had returned to their stations, they received another call for a second fire at a home in the 1400 block of Central Avenue. The fire happened just before 5:00 a.m. and was confined to the back of the home. The owner of the home was able to get out. Fire officials estimate the damage cost to be around $15,000 and say the cause was accidental.
