BELOIT (WIFR) -- Beloit police are investigating two murders less than 24 hours apart from each other.
Beloit Police tell us they were in a southwestern Beloit neighborhood when they heard multiple gunshots. We're told citizens in the Eighth and Highland area then began calling to report a person firing a weapon, and a vehicle quickly leaving the area. One person was reported being struck by gunfire.
Police and emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene to find one victim with a gunshot wound. The 20-year-old victim was transported to Beloit Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He has been identified by police as Raymond Holloway of Beloit.
Police and detectives responding to the scene are conducting an investigation even before beginning reports from another shooting that happened early Friday morning. In that shooting, officers say 36-year-old Edward Haley was found just after midnight in the 2100 block of Newark Road. Haley died later at the hospital.
Police do not know if the two incidents are connected but say they are evaluating this possibility. No arrests have been made in either case. Detectives and officers tell us they will continue to follow up on any clues received for this incident or the first.
