Beloit Police Investigating Cemetery Theft

BELOIT (WIFR) -- The Beloit Police Department has launched an investigation into the theft of vases from grave markers at East Lawn Cemetery.

The thefts are believed to have occurred within the past month and involve bronze vases being taken from over 100 graves. It is probable that the vases were stolen for their scrap value.

The vases are approximately 14 inches high and 4 inches wide, designed to hold flowers at the grave. They are valued at $350 each. Any information on this crime can be called in to Crime Stoppers at 36-CRIME or by contact the police department directly via dispatch at 608-757-2244.
