Banker's Build Helps Habitat for Humanity

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Habitat for Humanity is kicking off their year by taking on three home building projects simultaneously and on Saturday, they got some much needed help.

90 volunteers, which included employees from Alpine Bank, Associated Bank, Bank of America, Blackhawk Bank, Northwest Bank, Riverside Community Bank, Rockford Bank and Trust and U.S. Bank, were out in full force to help with construction for the first ever Banker's Build.

Along with the future home owners, they helped put up framework for projects on Arnold Avenue and 18th Avenue.

Organizers say that without these volunteers and the ones who donate their time every week, none of this would be possible.

"They've really given to the community just that chance of getting an affordable house," said Volunteer Manager Sarah Brinkmann. "And getting someone from a longtime renter into a homeowner is a major accomplishment and those volunteers make it happen."

Since 1988, Rockford Habitat for Humanity has completed and sold 104 homes.
