Bank of America Charitable Foundation Awards Grant To Rockford Habitat

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity (RAHFH) has been awarded a grant of $5,000.00 from Bank of American Charitable Foundation. The grant will assist in the purchase of building materials for the four homes to be built by Rockford Habitat volunteers in 2013.

In October, RAHFH built and sold its 100th home in Rockford. Eighty-five percent of the homes are occupied by the original homebuyers. Four families have paid off their mortgages while four have been sold on the open market.

In June 2012, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation awarded over $22 million in grants to more than 650 nonprofits addressing housing needs. Based on data provided by nonprofit partners, these funds are estimated to benefit more than 31 million individuals.

RAHFH is a non-profit organization that builds and sells homes at-cost to qualified families while offering a zero interest loan. Forty-percent of the homebuilding program is funded through current homeowner principal mortgage payments. For more information, see or call the office at 815-636-4573.
