ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Two Boylan High School grads pledge a million dollars to their alma mater to help future generations of students stay fit.
Pat and Lout Bachrodt say they’ll match up to a million dollars in donations for Boylan’s planned health and fitness center.
The school has already raised $600,000 for the project. The Bachrodt’s parents donated funds to build the high school back in 1960. This new 30,000 square foot facility will have space for two practice courts.
"It will present us opportunities to run multiple practices in the facility as opposed to having students say late into the night using just one gym. It’s an advantage in both in the physical education in terms of teaching stations and our athletics,” said Boylan principal Jerry Kerrigan.
School leaders would like to break ground on the new fitness center next spring.
