ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Attendance at Rockford City Market continues to exceed levels set in previous years. With only five weeks into the season, Rockford City Market has seen 23,169 visitors so far this year. That is a 25% increase in attendance to date, over 18,414 visitors at this time last year.
"We are very grateful that the community has embraced the Market as they have," said Rock River Development Partnership Chairman Peter Provenzano. "Our market vendors and staff work hard each week to put on a great event, rain or shine”
As the season progresses, Rockford City Market leaders will continue to evaluate their processes to accommodate the market's growth. In 2013 thus far, the Market has expanded the grounds to the north, revised the vendor layout, added beverage stations and port-o-lets, and grown its volunteer base.
This week’s Market will feature a 4th of July theme. The first 50 children to visit the information tent will receive a pair of patriotic sunglasses. Rockford City Market will also feature a ‘photo booth’ where patrons can get their photos taken with patriotic themed props and items. The July 5 Market will also feature the first large crop of vegetables this season, including radishes, several lettuce varieties, zucchini, beets, peas, kale and more.
