ROCHELLE (WIFR) – Today, Rochelle emergency responders pulled out all the stops to show kids the dangers of drinking, texting, and driving.
Emergency room nurses played the victims at today’s assembly. They showed a speechless crowd of high schoolers exactly what happens after an accident from the 9-1-1 call to the arrival of a medical helicopter, even the coroner having to tell the victim’s “parents” about the crash. Many of the students we talked to said it was hard to watch.
“I’m pretty good about not texting and driving, but I have friends who do it, so just to think about actually going through that,” said senior, Cami Myers.
Rochelle’s homecoming is coming up and officers say they hope this will encourage kids to act responsibly.
