SOUTH BELOIT (WIFR) – One local artist can find his work all over the world, but a trip up north made a big impact on his career.
Salem Barker of South Beloit spent the last three months creating an 11-foot tall, 1,400-pound wood sculpture. Barker revealed his piece to Bell’s Brewery on Thursday in Comstock Township in Michigan. The 80-year-old Elm tree was the biggest assignment he has embarked on and has left Barker feeling accomplished.
Barker will get right back to work, although he currently doesn’t have any requests to the magnitude of his latest project.
