Anti-Bullying Lecture at Hononegah

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Hononegah High is trying to make sure students don't get hurt at school, by bullies. National speaker Mike Smith talked to students at Hononegah today, as part of an anti-bullying message.

He says he was picked on in school and that in return, made him pick on other people. He's now trying to teach students about changing the school culture and becoming leaders.

"They're leaving their impression on this school and I think that if they can understand they have the opportunity to change the culture in this school. Sometimes it's just a matter of sitting next to somebody different at lunch or apologizing for a time that you were rude or said something hurtful,” said Smith.

Smith also shot a video with students today to help his skate for change initiative. Students will skateboard while handing out food, clothing, and other items to homeless people in Rockford.
