STATELINE (WIFR) -- The Dodge Dart numbers came out yesterday and now it’s time to do a little analyzing.
On the surface, the numbers for Belvidere’s newest model are up, however, some national publications are coming down hard on Belvidere's newest model.
December sales for the Dart cracked 6,000 which was about a 33% increase from November. However, a recent Wall Street online article listed the Dart as the 2nd worst product flop in 2012, behind only Apple Maps. The article showed concerns that the Dart Sales remain about a fifth of more established compact models, like the Honda Civic and Ford Focus.
We asked Detroit Autoline Radio Host John McElroy about the Wall Street article.
"I find that amusing and my guess is that before the year is over, they're going to have to eat their hat on that one. I think that the Dart is gaining momentum and I think you're going to see Dodge put more marketing muscle behind it just to get those sales up," McElroy said.
McElroy also says that while the Dart Sales are maybe a little less than Chrysler has hoped at this point. They're still outperforming other similar new models like the Buick Verano and the Chevy Sonic.
