BELVIDERE (WIFR) -- Sticking in Belvidere, one group is fighting to get the minimum wage increased to $10.10 an hour.

The group Americans United for Change is calling on lawmakers to raise the national minimum wage by nearly $2.00. The bus tour called 'Give America a Raise' is stopping all over the country asking republican lawmakers to approve of the increase. Their several hundred mile trek to Belvidere was to urge Congressman Adam Kinzinger to make the change.

"This is not about teenagers. This is about people who are raising families, who are over 20. 90% of these workers are over 20 and 2/3 of them are woman. These are people who are trying to make a living by working full time and are not able to get by," says Lauren Weiner, Spokesperson for Americans United for Change.

The next stop in the tour is in Springfield tomorrow.
