Alcohol May Have Played Role in Crash

WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) -- Alcohol may be to blame for a late night accident that left a Winnebago man dead. The Winnebago County Sheriff's department tells us 57-year-old Gerald Gipe went off Trask Bridge Road, west of Burritt Town Hall shortly before midnight.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Autopsy results indicate he was killed by the trauma of the crash, and he did have alcohol in his system. Sheriff's deputies are still investigating.
