ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Thousands of District 205 students aren’t waiting until graduation to start looking for a future career.
Today was the first district-wide academy expo at the BMO Harris Bank Center, 5,000 students spent the day talking to local companies, agencies, and universities.
The students will use information from the event to pick an academy that they’ll enter next year. Students say the expo is a great tool when it comes to finding a future path.
"If you ask questions, you interview the people, then you can find out what the job is about and if you really want to do it,” said Auburn Freshman Charlynn Thomas-Smith.
The goal is to get all District 205 high school students enrolled in their chosen academies by next school year.
